The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is the best place in town to be for the 2024 St. Augustine History Festival!
May 8 – 9, special historic talk: May 8 and 9, at 3:00 and again at 4:00. Listen to Luella Day MacConnell (a reenactment), or as some of you might know her – Diamond Lil. Luella owned the Fountain of Youth from 1900 to 1927. She was the first to promote our property as Ponce de Leon’s mythical Fountain of Youth. Luella also discovered the Coquina Cross and Ponce’s salt cellar containing the Soriano Vellum which holds his own inscription as to this finding. You won’t want to miss a tour with Luella – she’s a hoot!
May 8 – 12, all day: Come see rarely observed pre-Columbian skills in our Native American Village as our experts carve a new totem and demonstrate the proper care and respect Native Americans devote to the preparation of the hides of two large forest animals obtained from, and spiritually sanctioned by the Cherokee Tribe of North Carolina, and from Michigan, members of the Potawatomi and Chippewa Tribes.
May 11 – 12, all day: Blacksmith shop raffle – all day event on May 11 & 12. Our blacksmith will be working all day on a very special iron grill trammel. Raffle tickets are available in the Gift Shop: $1 each or 6 for $5. Fill out raffle ticket completely. Winner will be announced on Monday – need not be present to apply.
